City gardeners will find inspiration and to spare at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park as the emphasis is firmly on gardening in an urban setting.

City Garden Inspiration

The show is highlighting ways to green up grey spaces and help create healthier, more sustainable cities while combatting some of the big environmental issues we face. The all-new ‘Future Spaces’ category is full of great ideas, including a garden designed to cope with rising air temperatures featuring drought-tolerant plants, and a garden which resonates with soundwaves inspired by bees. Another new feature is Bus Stop Boulevard, a ‘city street’ complete with edible bus stops designed by local communities plus a real double decker bus.

The big show gardens are set to be as dazzling and thought-provoking as ever, with gardens including a ‘fantasy’ back garden, a flood-proof front garden, and an outdoor ‘hot desk’ office space. There’s a huge tropical Butterfly Dome, giving visitors the chance to walk among thousands of exotic butterflies fluttering among exotic tropical plants. Plus of course all the regular show favourites, including the Back to Back Gardens and the Floral Marquee, full to bursting with the nation’s best growers.

RHS Flower Show Tatton Park runs from 19-23 July: for more information, visit www.rhs.org.uk/tattonpark
